However this means it’s outgunned by the GTX 1660 Super by around 20% , which is why AMD is instead using the card to stake their claim to the $199 price point. So for buyers who absolutely can’t go above $200, it’s an option; but at this point GTX 1660 Super doesn’t face any major competition. At current prices, the $229 GTX 1660 Super is $50 cheaper than the GTX 1660 Ti. And with the card only trailing NVIDIA’s top 1660 card by about 4%, I would argue that the GTX 1660 Ti has been rendered redundant at this point; the GTX 1660 Ti isn’t far enough ahead to provide much in the way of value. Instead, the next real step up after the GTX 1660 Super is the GTX 2060, which is 22% faster, but running at around $100 more expensive. At this point, the partners have been shipping TU116-based cards for over 6 months, so they have been able to hone their GTX 1660 family designs.

Obviously there is also a non-Ti, non-Super version of the Nvidia GTX 1660 too. And, honestly, it’s very much looking like the third wheel in this triumvirate. It’s not currently much cheaper than the $230 MSRP of the Palit gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb we’ve been testing, and is consistently slower despite not being a hugely different card on the surface. Though we do anticipate pricing changing for the OG card very soon.

Though the GTX 1660 Ti has slower memory, it’s still at the top of this 3-card stack due to having more CUDA cores, more texture units, and a bigger L1 cache. The new 1660 Super will also support all the new software advancements Nvidia is announcing today as well. At 1,920 x 1,080, the GTX 1660 was a huge amount faster than the GTX GB, offering a near 30% speed boost to the minimum frame rate. While there was a big step up on the minimum from the RX 590, the latter was only 2fps behind on the average frame rate. Given the price difference between it and the GTX 1660 Ti, the pricing here is pretty much spot on too, with the more expensive Turing card adding around 15% on top of the GTX 1660’s performance. So coming to the specifications of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, the card would rock 1408 CUDA cores, 80 Texture Mapping Units, and 48 raster operation units.

While the Super has been clearly designed to deliver a far more tantalising combination of price and gaming performance. In today’s modern gameworlds the scenes are becoming ever more complex. There are higher res textures, more geometry, more post-processing effect… in short, more of everything that will put demands on your GPU and its memory setup.

The smaller the overlap between the yellow and green bars, the better the value for money. We updated the motherboard to the latest available BIOS , from August 2019. We enabled the memory’s XMP profile to get it running at the rated 3200 MHz CL16 specification.

Ultimately the GTX 1660 is exactly what it needs to be – much quicker than the GTX GB, a match for the RX 590 and a huge step up from the GTX GB, which unless you’re picking it up for less than $160/£150, really isn’t worth it now. Far Cry 5 was tiny bit slower on the Scan PC than on my own test system, but only by a couple of frames per second, with the Pc maintaining a minimum frame rate of at least 67fps, with clear scope for gaming at higher resolutions. Stepping up to 1440p and the GTX 1660 Ti extended its lead over the cheaper Turing card and only the RTX 2060 managed to reach over 60fps consistently.

These cards, like the mid-range and high-end Super cards that preceded them, are also designed to improve performance and offer a better price-to-performance ratio than the non-super cards that preceded them. These value charts can’t fully quantify gtx 1080 8gb every potential buyer, as for many people raw performance will hold more weight than price. It’s why some gamers buy the RTX 2080 Ti, even though it’s at the bottom of the GPU value charts and only about half way up the system value charts.
