Milwaukee’s current slogan is “Nothing but HEAVY DUTY,” which speaks volumes about how they view their products and brand. The Milwaukee Electric Tool Company was founded in 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Since the beginning, they differentiated themselves through innovation and top quality. Their first product was the hand shooter, which was the first of its kind, one-handed capacity drill. Milwaukee 18V and DeWalt’s 20V drills have the same power, but Milwaukee has a higher maximum speed of 1,800 RPM compared to DeWalt, which goes up to 1,500 RPM.
As the company’s capabilities expanded, so did their inventory of power tools. Today DeWALT is one of the leading manufacturers of power tools in the world. This drill comes with a 5 year limited warranty which is one of the indicators of quality and durability.

I chose to focus on Milwaukee’s M18 Compact Drill/Driver and DeWalt’s 20V Drill/Driver in this review because they are both cordless, powerful, durable, easy to use, and relatively affordable.

A rotary hammer uses a different mechanism from a hammer drill to more quickly drill holes in concrete. DeWalt makes many different rotary hammers—across a wide range of sizes.
If you’re planning to use your drill for long stretches at a time, you can easily keep an extra battery pack on hand to switch out. By choosing the DeWalt 20-volt over the DeWalt 12-volt, you’re getting more speed, more power, and more run time. To determine this, we drilled five 1-inch holes with the 12-volt and five with the 20-volt. Both drills completed the task, but the 20-volt did so in 20 seconds, whereas the 12-volt took 1 minute. During the test, the 12-volt often got bound up and had a much harder time, while the 20-volt just blew right through the wood. So although the 12-volt is capable of tougher jobs, that’s really not what that smaller tool is designed for.
