Casio Gsw
his week G-Shock debuted a sand and surf-themed watch collection called the Hidden Coast Series. At £999, and 55mm in diameter, it is, quite literally, a lot of watch for the money. That case size could be a deal-breaker for some, but those who can get away with it might find they’re sporting one of the hottest watches of the summer. And probably the only one that actually looks like it has been dropped in a Covid-compliant, socially distanced, outdoor fire pit. The Casio G-Shock GSW-H1000 is priced at GBP 599 (roughly Rs. 60,600) in the UK.
Indeed, even Casio seems to have trouble keeping up with their G-Shock offerings; their website is, perhaps understandably, not exactly the tidiest. But, yes, they’ll also color-coordinate with your most high-tech sneakers for mad street style. Casio tells us that they’re going for hip-hop fashion statements with these watches, but what really sets them apart is the rotary control dial in the crown position. This unique feature allows for intuitive control over whatever function is selected. These watches are pushing 80s style into modern proportions like a trunk-pumpin’ remix of DeBarge. Yes, they’re incredibly capable and tough watches, but that’s not quite the point of these bad boys…well, unless you’re going to do a headspin on a piece of cardboard in it.
