Gigabyte Geforce Rtx 2060 Super
Get 1.4X power efficiency over previous generation for a faster, cooler and quieter gaming experience that take advantage of Turing’s advanced graphics features. Obviously, MSI will offer several SKUs, in the above table you can see the naming, cooling option and listed Boost clocks for your reference. Having smaller TU116 silicon with close to 6.6 Billion transistors it doesn’t run very warm.
The GPU has been cut-down, the available memory configurations will be 6GB GDDR6 for the Ti models and 3 or 6GB GDDR5 for the non-Ti models. Our tested card has been fitted with 6GB of GDDR5 memory running a 192-bit wide bus. It has a proper boost clock and there will be no differentiation for the reference values compared to the AIB partners. Enhance your gaming experience by adding the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC graphics card to your PC. Featuring 6GB of DDR6 video memory and 14,000MHz clock speed, it provides smooth and reliable performance for your favourite games. Its protective backplate resists PVC flex so that the components are undisturbed during transport and setup.
Because Turing doubles up on schedulers, it only needs to issue an instruction to the CUDA cores every other clock cycle to keep them full. In between, it’s free to issue a different instruction to any other unit, including the INT32 cores. The GeForce continues the downward price and performance trend with Nvidia’s Turing architecture, cutting additional high-end features to bring a generational improvement to the mainstream market. The new card is likely to be released as GTX 1060 series will fully disappear from the market, so probably not long from now.
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super is available today, starting at $229 (about £180, AU$330). This puts the GTX 1660 Super above the original GTX 1660 by just $10 (about £8, AU$15). But, with the faster GDDR6 memory, you’re getting a significant boost in performance for that slight price increase.
Getting more performance at a lower price is great, but with graphics cards there’s always a problem of competing with the previous generation. The GTX 1660 will be faster than the GTX GB—it has some architectural enhancements, higher clockspeeds, and more shader cores—but it’s not going to be a massive upgrade. That’s why I generally recommend trying to skip a generation or two of hardware between upgrades, especially for budget and mainstream gamers, which means the GTX 1660 is better positioned as a replacement for an old GTX 960 or earlier GPU. If you’re using such a card, the 1660 is a great upgrade, while anyone with a GTX 970 or better will probably want to wait a bit longer . And, it’s also important to note that this GPU doesn’t have the RT and Tensor cores that the RTX 20-series of Turing graphics cards have. This means that while you can technically enable ray tracing, it’s going to turn whatever game you try to enable it on into a slideshow – more so than it does on any other graphics card.
Priced at £259/$279, gtx 1090 Ti is a direct replacement for GTX 1060, delivering a substantial increase in gaming frame-rates, often exceeding the power of the outgoing GTX 1070. The GTX 1660 still came out as the faster card every time, but the improvements offered were arguably so small that you probably wouldn’t notice them without the aid of a frame rate counter. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super is based on the same TU116 GPU as both the GTX 1660 and the GTX 1660 Ti, but has the same 1,408 CUDA cores as the original 1660. The big difference over the original graphics card is the bump up to GDDR6 video memory, resulting in a boost in memory speed from 8Gbps to 14Gbps – that’s just as fast as the VRAM in the massively powerful RTX 2080 Ti.
The GeForce GTX 1650 Super will be arriving at little later in November. NVIDIA is introducing some new driver and GeForce Experience-related features today too, which we will cover in a just bit. The GTX 1660 Super still has 6GB of video memory — enough for a card of its class — but it’s GDDR6, rather than GDDR5, and it data rate is 14Gbps, rather than 8Gbps. This increases memory bandwidth from 192 GB/sec to 336 GB/sec, which is actually higher than the GTX 1660 Ti, and on par with the original RTX 2060. This is fantastic mid-range video card capable of handling 120 fps framerate games for a mid-range price. Comes with 6GB dedicated RAM and tools to auto-download latest/updated drivers.
Comparisons with game system requirements are included, but remember that sometimes official requirements may reflect reality inaccurately. Ice Storm was used to measure entry level laptops and Windows-based tablets performance. It utilizes DirectX 11 feature level 9 to display a battle between two space fleets near a frozen planet in 1280×720 resolution. Discontinued in January 2020, it is now superseded by 3DMark Night Raid. It used four tests based on two scenes, one being few submarines exploring the submerged wreck of a sunken ship, the other is an abandoned temple deep in the jungle. All the tests are heavy with volumetric lighting and tessellation, and despite being done in 1280×720 resolution, are relatively taxing.
He primarily covers Windows, PC and gaming hardware, video and music streaming services, social networks, and browsers. When he’s not covering the news he’s working on how-to tips for PC users, or tuning his eGPU setup. I should note that AMD’s free games bundle only lasts until April 6th 2019, though, so depending on what they follow it up with , then the gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb may well regain its crown as the ultimate graphics card for £200 / $220.
This gives the GTX 1660 Super 336GB/sec of memory bandwidth, 75% more bandwidth than the original GTX 1660, or as much as the RTX 2060. And this extensive amount of bandwidth is almost entirely responsible for the 12% performance gains we see over the original card. Far Cry 5 was tiny bit slower on the Scan PC than on my own test system, but only by a couple of frames per second, with the Pc maintaining a minimum frame rate of at least 67fps, with clear scope for gaming at higher resolutions. There was between 10-15% between the GTX 1660 and GTX GB too – again Nvidia was right on the money here. Both the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and 1660 use Nvidia’s TU166 Turing GPU, with the caveat that it doesn’t support RTX features such as DLSS and ray tracing like the RTX 2060. Despite its smaller transistors, TU116 is 42 percent larger than the GP106 processor that preceded it.
