The RecWell is a student-powered bike shop providing free bike repair and education for all UMD students, faculty, and staff. The shop also rents commuter and mountain bikes, hosts bike maintenance classes and group rides, and has a limited inventory of bike parts and safety equipment for sale. Spokes Etc. has been Northern VA’s premier cycling resource since 1986. The RecWell Bike Shop has a limited amount of parts and safety equipment for sale. Visit the bike shop during our operating hours to make a purchase. We cannot guarantee that we can install any components during that time.
At the Bicycle Shop, we have the largest selection of e-bikes in Central PA, including brands from Specialized and Giant. The RecWell giant KIDS BIKES hosts a variety of bicycle maintenance clinics. Patrons who are using our contactless repair service are responsible for the locks used in drop-off and pick-up and are responsible for any loss or damage of said locks ($20.00 charge).
In accordance with the reduction of hours and services at RecWell, the Bike Shop will only be providing quick service appointments for the remainder of the semester. Bikes that are ready for pick up from repair service must be retrieved within 72 hours of contact. If you cannot retrieve your bike within that time frame, contact for assistance.
