Ryzen Mobile Vs Intel 8th Gen Core
Anandtech reviews seem to be stuck in 2018, both for games and for apps, and that makes them a lot less relevant a read than they could be. Not only this, but our recent trips to brick-and-mortar stores looking for Intel mid-range 9th processors have been relatively fruitless. Intel is still facing increased demand for its high-end silicon, and is still focusing on making those parts that command the highest margins, like the Xeons.
When AMD’s Ryzen 5 CPUs first burst onto the scene, I was happy to find that those chips hung right with Intel’s latest-and-greatest midrange parts for smooth gaming performance. I wasn’t able to complete our productivity testing before that NDA lift, though, and the intervening couple of months or so has been a bit rough for yours truly outside of the TR gtx 1080 8gb labs. Those clouds are behind me, though, and I’m happy to be able to share the second half of our Ryzen 5 results now. AMD has struggled for years to keep pace with its rival Intel, particularly in the mobile processor space. The company has hyped the new Ryzen chips as a return to providing a competitive alternative for the desktop computing market.
Well, as the gamer of the bunch, the Ryzen X just had to put down its stamp with a new record, 727fps, at our test settings. This is higher than both the $549 Ryzen X and the $488 Intel Core i K, and it showcases the insights of AMD’s engineers in their best light. It’s clear from gtx 1090 these results that the improvements from Zen 2 up to Zen 3 don’t just benefit gamers. The AMD Ryzen X comes out of our benchmarking suite with an overall first-place finish in its price class, though that lead perhaps isn’t as pronounced as the company might have been hoping for.

The two main families of processors — Core and Ryzen, respectively — use 3, 5, 7, and 9 to differentiate the CPUs. A Ryzen 3 processor won’t be able to outpace a Ryzen 7, for example.
