Alfa Romeo Giulia

Hands move away automatically from obstructing view of digital display. Can’t remember another model that has variants with hardware differences like that. Japan-cased watches carry the JF suffix, at a price premium of about 40 to 100 percent.

The trip to town turned into a mini watch meetup where TheTickTockCollector, HalfWatchTuesday co-creator Jumping Jalapeno and WatchDeclan were assembled in Mappin and Webb. After playing with some high end pieces we set off to see Simon and cross g shock watch his palm with silver. When the black version of the 2100 came out of its box, Omair who had already ordered his elsewhere online, turned into a giddy school kid and bought another one there and then so he didn’t miss out on those new watch feels.

The Quadrifoglio’s main competitors are cars such as the Mercedes-AMG C63, BMW M3 and the Cadillac ATS-V. The new four-cylinder petrol engine is rated at a maximum power output of 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) at 5,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 400 N⋅m (295 lb⋅ft) at 2,250 rpm. The new Giulia was unveiled to the press at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese, on 24 June 2015, at an event which involved only the top-of-the-range Quadrifoglio variant and a rendition of “Nessun dorma” by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. The occasion coincided with the company’s 105th anniversary, and also saw the company debut a restyled logo for all future Alfa Romeo models. The Giulia was also presented under the new La meccanica delle emozioni slogan (“the mechanics of emotions” in Italian).

Something people have commented on is the thinness of this watch compared to other Gs and this is evident when you flip the watch to the side. I can only assume they have managed to retain the ruggedness of what makes a G-SHOCK a G-SHOCK while reducing the dimensions through the use of what is called Carbon Core Quad. A side effect of this is that for some reason the watch doesn’t sit properly on wrist sometimes, with the lugs and strap not quite having the same snug fit to the wrist, even when pulled almost uncomfortably tight. On the blacked out version the embossed PROTECTION, G-SHOCK and button labels are all unpainted then you have the dial which drops down to a valley from the rehaut and chapter ring down to the lowest level where the tiny LCD panel lives. The shapes along the way play with whatever light managed to enter the watch and again just looks amazing.

These two impressive functions are just the tip of the iceberg. Other features include a world time function, alarm clock, and automatic hand correction. The all-new G-Shock GA-2100 series is coming to Japan in August 2019. Like the recent GA-2000, the GA-2100 is a Carbon Core Guard model, but unlike other recent carbon models, it has a retro G-Shock look thanks to its octagonal bezel and traditionally shaped resin bands. The GA-2100 is actually inspired by the design and shape of the first-ever G-Shock DW-5000C but in a combination analog and digital form. At 11.8 millimeters, it is the thinnest analog-digital G-Shock watch available.

The Giulia was second in 2017 European Car of the Year voting and was named Motor Trend Car of the Year for 2018. In 2018, Giulia was awarded the Compasso d’Oro industrial design award. Every watch has a relationship between the dial and the case. The GA-2100 is interesting because the dial and case seem to all be part of the same object, as opposed to being distinct elements that make up a complete timepiece. Here is where the Royal Oak comparison actually makes the most sense – that’s a watch whose style is built on a harmony between the angular case and its integrated bracelet. But the so called CasiOak takes it a step further, blending not just the dial but it’s associated furniture into the same hunk of red plastic.

(The GA A and GA A also have Neo-Brite luminous hands.) The dimensions are 48.5 x 45.4 x 11.8 millimeters and the weight is 51 grams. I’ve not seen any additional straps to buy yet but hey, new stuff! The strap itself feels a little thinner and more rigid than my other resin G-SHOCK and other Casios in general but this may be because it’s new and I’ve not broken it in yet. Adding a bit of panache to the successful X-Large GA120 series, the new GA201 employs a black IP aluminum bezel and additional metal accents on the dial for added depth and an upscale look.

Visible around the steel case back, the bumper is made of carbon composite – which Casio has named the Carbon Core Guard – which is a dark marbled grey and distinct from the black resin outer case. Casio has become well known for being the pioneers in manufacturing digital watches by introducing numerous features that did not limit watches to time alone. It has brought multi functionality along with elegance into the lives of every watch bearer. You can purchase the black square Baby-G for about 70 USD on Chrono24 or 79 USD from Casio directly.

The TI has more features than the so-called base model although both models have the same engine. The AWD system is optional and the only transmission option is an eight-speed automatic. The 505 hp Quadrifoglio is also in the Giulia lineup for the United States. According to FCA parts catalogue EPER, the 350 hp higher performance Veloce TI version is also available for the North American market. Technologically speaking, the solid black Mudmaster nearly makes use of Casio’s full repertoire. Some of its 21 features include Bluetooth technology, a compass, an altimeter with data logging, a step tracker, and an alarm clock.
