Standard models are usually in stock, while limited editions come and go. Bluetooth sets these watches apart from the other 5000 Series G-Shocks. This is the grandaddy of the retro-style, with a robust feature set and a classic look that’ll hide this wolf’s cutting-edge capabilities under a sheep’s clothing. Hard to get, but worth the quest for die-hard G-Shock collectors and normal folks alike.
In 2012, Casio released the GB-6900, a Bluetooth-capable model of the G-Shock. Casio claimed the battery life of 2 years on a single CR2032 battery. Since then, the Bluetooth technology has been incorporated in many top-of-the-line models. The DW models are standard battery powered G-Shocks while GW models of the G-Shock come with either Tough Solar or Multi-Band atomic timekeeping or both.
For more color options and limited editions, see all Rangeman models. Though this list originally excluded Japan-only models, the GW JF deserves a place on it because of its well-deserved status and popularity around the world. Also, it is not a limited edition but a regularly produced model in Japan, so it is not hard to find and purchase for a reasonable price. The outer face design has a cleaner, baby g shock more subdued style, and the updated modern features include Tough Solar power and Multi-Band 6 automatic radio timekeeping. The original G-Shock from 1983 also had this inner stainless steel case and screw-back structure, but it was abandoned for a resin inner case in later models. With its superior build quality and classic lineage, the GW JF is one of the finest examples of a G-Shock.
The G-9300 might be better if you don’t want a large watch, but the GW-9400 is not that large. My work schedule is 6 am to 6 pm, 7 days a week, so i barely see the sun and only if i go for a break for about a minute. g shock protection I was wondering if this will still or still get charged in the office light, the flourecent light or if i go for a break outside (working in Saudi, it’s pretty hot, especially sunny here)which takes 3-5 mins.
My feeling is that by not having any graphics there, the watch is more serious, and therefore could be worn in situations that you might not think would call for a 6900 G-Shock. Whenever someone asks me to collaborate on a design, I like to find my footing in a place of authenticity. I think the “why” is as important as the “what,” and when I thought back on my relationship to Casio products, their keyboards came to mind as much as the watches did.
My common disappointment with all of them is the poor digital displays in both bright and dark lighting conditions. Could you recommend a watch with lots of features but with a really good and legible digital readout. I always recommend solar when possible, especially for analog G-Shocks. You might also want to consider a GA-700 or GA-710, which has a longer battery life g shock protection than other non-solar analog G-Shocks. The AWG-M100B-1A and GBA-800-1A are considered “mid-size” models that are more like the smaller G-Shock watches from the 1980s-2000s. The GA-110MB-1A is more of a large size (although it doesn’t really seem that large now in 2019) and the GAW-100B-1A is the largest model of the four and I would consider it an extra-large size.
When the GMW-B5000D-1 was first released during the 35th Anniversary in 2018, it was an absolute sensation and nearly impossible to get a hold of one. Now that things have calmed down, and it is readily available at non-inflated prices, we can wholeheartedly recommend it. The GMW-B5000D-1 is modeled after the original G-Shock but in a fully stainless steel form. Due to its lineage, features, and build quality, it is highly regarded by both G-Shock fanatics and general watch enthusiasts. It’s hard to argue that this isn’t the best-looking full-metal G-Shock ever made.
