Casio engineers also gave the G-Shock GA2100 a relatively clean dial that is about as bare as you can expect from a modern G-Shock product that has analog hands. The Casio quartz movement uses a combination of three analog hands and a smallish negative LCD display to offer all the various features that are the typical assortment you expect in most G-Shock products. The relative elegance of the overall watch, along with its Royal Oak-inspired case, actually makes for an excellent product that feels both fun and mature at the same time. In other words, this doesn’t feel like a kids’ watch at all.
For those who need excellent visibility in the dark, the EL backlight illuminates the entire LCD display with a blue/green hue for easy viewing. This basic model also has a stopwatch, countdown timer, and daily alarm. The GA-900 has the distinction of having the longest estimated battery life of any non-solar G-Shock with an analog display. The style g shock protection is inspired by industrial and construction equipment, and the yellow accents on this GA-900-1A bring to mind the Caterpillar company. With its decagonal bezel, prominent front screws, and bumpers, it sort of resembles a mini-Mudmaster. The watch also has a front LED light button, 1/100 second stopwatch, 60-minute countdown timer, and 5 alarms.
The GA700 is larger than the others, has a front light button, and a longer estimated battery life. I would suggest picking the one you like the look of the most. The cheapest ones are okay but they don’t have all the features like world time, multiple alarms, and auto light.
You can get it in militaristic olive green and dark gray. The only gripe here is that this line has weak low light capabilities, which is a let-down considering their convenient positioning of the LED light button. My favorite element, and one that was really surprising when I saw the watch with my own eyes, is the color of the gray used on the case and strap. You have to see it in person, but it has this texture to it that I’ve never seen on a G-Shock. And the most striking thing, I think, is that there isn’t any printing anywhere on the strap.
